Douglas Adams is famous for creating The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, a novel, TV series, computer game, and record album which started life as a radio series. When the book was published, it rocketed to the top of the UK Bestseller List and Adams was awarded with the first of his three Golden Pan awards. Born in Cambridge, England in 1952, he earned a B.A. and later an M.A. from the University of Cambridge. Adams followed his dazzling debut with additional books in the Hitchhiker series and other novels. He also collaborated with John Lloyd on two books, and with zoologist Mark Carwardine on Last Chance to See. In addition to writing, Adams was a founder of a digital media and internet company. He died in 2001.
